‘Forests of Hope’, a public art mural in Dwarka’s sector-14 metro station envisioned by the students of Nirmal Bhartia School in collaboration with St+Art India Foundation and the DMRC was unveiled to the public during a function at the metro station by the DMRC MD, Dr. Vikas Kumar, on 24th August 2023. Painted by the award-winning Warli artists, Mayur and Tushar Vayeda, the artwork seeks to honour the indomitable spirit of the DMRC and celebrate the excellence and efficiency of its network during Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Tracing its intricate patterns and organic forms to the unique nature of Mayur and Tushar’s artistic practice known for blending ancestral stories, folklore, and rituals with contemporary colours, form and expression, it both evokes reverence for the pollinating seed that lies at the heart of a forest and reminds us of the vital role that indigenous wisdom plays in shaping the forests of tomorrow. As commuters traverse through the metro station, the mural becomes a wakeful catalyst for dialogue, awareness and action. Each stroke and symbol honours and preserves tribal heritage while painting a future of hope where thriving forests, prosperous communities, and vibrant cultural traditions can all coexist.

‘Forests of Hope’ is an integral part of Nirmal Bhartia School’s unwavering commitment to bringing the transformative power of public art to the neighbouring community. The mural reimagines the bare walls of the sector -14 metro station as a veritable forest alive with inspiration and optimism.
