A HOLISTIC EDUCATION
In a world that hurtles towards change at every known level, the educating of a child becomes both an unprecedented challenge and a sacred task.
At the Nirmal Bhartia School (NiBS), we believe that education cannot be limited to the linear schooling process of acquiring a narrow set of skills and knowledge required to prepare one for life. Rather, it must integrate a child’s growth and evolution into everyday life so that learning is authentic, meaningful and rooted in the real world from the very first day of school and the transition into each life-stage is natural and dynamic.
While academic excellence is absolutely necessary, a true and whole education must include more than that. In addition to cultivating the habits of mind, it should be a one that grounds in children a secure sense of self-belief and a comforting sense of ‘belonging’ to each other and to the world, so that they are able to face life’s greatest challenges with enduring hope, passionate purpose and a firm faith in the power of working together rather than trying to defeat each other.
For us at the Nirmal Bhartia School (NiBS), providing our children with an education of such meaning and value has meant opening up the doors of the traditionally isolated school site to pioneer the warm, open and inviting space of a community school.
A school where….
…. the home, school and community environments are closely knit together to help each child feel safe, special and secure.
…children are encouraged to grow without fear by building relationships of strength and support with their friends and peers, rather than being forcibly pitted against them
… teachers work not alone, but reach out and actively partner with parents, family members, storytellers, artistes and nutritionists.
…. there is never only one way to learn and open doors bring learning opportunities that are varied and rich.
…. learning never comes to an end and each living moment is an exciting opportunity to learn.
A school that is not just a school, but a nurturing community of life-long learners who live and learn together, seeking strength and support, with and from each other.
