A HOLISTIC EDUCATION
the Aham-Sah Way
Our Vision
In a world that hurtles towards change at every known level, the educating of a child becomes a sacred task.
At the Nirmal Bhartia School (NiBS), we believe that a true, whole or meaningful education cannot be limited to the often narrow and linear schooling process of acquiring the knowledge and skills required to prepare one for a future life. For us, it must be a natural, more open and organic process of living and engaging with each stage of life as it takes place; of experiencing its intrinsic uniqueness, wondrous diversity and umbilical inter-connectedness; of being moved by beauty and asking thought-provoking questions; of the search for answers and the fearless urge to bring about change when required.
While academic excellence is absolutely necessary, a complete education should include more than that. Surely, it should be a process in which the teacher and the taught come together to explore both, the outer world and their own inner worlds, and one in which an emerging awareness enables them to blur all hard divides within and between the two. For it is only by kindling a creative and comforting consonance between the home, school and community on the one hand, and the head, heart and hand on the other, that we may hope to nurture an educational process so enriched with life’s holistic diversity and unity, that learners are naturally inspired to take deep dives, discovering, exploring and achieving their highest potential.
For us at the Nirmal Bhartia School (NiBS), providing our children with an education of such integrity and value, has meant nurturing a learning environment shaped by the VOICE of the Hansa.
Etymologically derived from the two primordial Sanskrit sounds –Aham (I am) and Sah (That), the VOICE of the Hansa is a resounding articulation of the Advait philosophical belief– I am That.
I am a part of you and you are a part of me;
I am a part of my family, my country, the world community and nature, and they are each a part of me.
In other words, while we are each unique, distinct and apart, we are also integrally and indivisibly a part of each other and of the greater unified whole called the universe or Brahman.
It is this deeply integrated unity within the heart of a hansa, resonating the Values of Ownership, Integrity, Collaboration and Excellence, that underpins our vision of holism and directs our allegiance to the Aham–Sah Way of education.
